GMS was set up in January 2006 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Integrated Business Strategy Ltd, (IBS), an independent UK management consultancy business, but has existed as a trading division of IBS since 2006 and before that under the trading name of Jenconsult, since 1999. GMS is more than just a UK company doing business for its UK customers in their overseas markets. The Associates are organised into a global trading network, so that activities can be initiated in any country, by an Associate in any other country, using the GMS network. This raises cost only where it is required and approved, but provides the top quality services of a much larger organisation.

Through its links to international business schools, data sources and specialist intelligence and other service providers, GMS is able to match its international activity on the ground with accurate, in depth and up to date information on markets, companies and individuals where this is relevant to their suitability as a business partner, for instance, or as part of the due diligence process prior to a major investment or acquisition.
